IMPORTANT: Wilderness Survival Camp Out This Weekend

posted Jan 16, 2018, 9:23 PM by Jason Ball
Hi Troop 531,

Here is some information for those going on the Wilderness Survival campout this weekend.

We will be camping at the lovely Camp James Ray near Pottsboro, TX, on Lake Texoma. The grubmasters have already been designated and should be planning to hit the grocery store this week. Have the Scouts plan to bring a normal packing list.

Here are a few things NOT to forget:
cold weather clothing
rain parka
sleeping bag
mess kit with spoon and fork
container for boiling water (if not part of mess kit)
canteen / water bottle
outdoor shoes ( preferably boots)
flashlight
tarp

The main thing to remember for this particular campout is a tarp and sleeping bag. The boys will be spending Saturday night away from base camp in the shelter they construct. Other helpful items will be a knife (along with a current Tote 'n Chip card) and cordage (twine/rope).

More information will go out later this week.

Thank you,
Troop 531
